Themed “Evolving Our Offshore: Balancing the Energy Mix,” Noia’s Fall Seminar will include engaging sessions as speakers discuss the important role that our offshore plays as we navigate towards Newfoundland and Labrador’s commitment of achieving net zero by 2050. From technology transfers to renewable energy mixes, industry leaders will identify how clean energy is applicable to our offshore and share policy decisions which have allowed other jurisdictions to grow. Networking begins 9:00am. The Main Session begins 10:15am.

Breakout Session 2: International Opportunities Discussion Forum

Summary
The supply and service sector of the Newfoundland and Labrador offshore has built an incredible reputation for its work in the harsh weather environment of the region, but also for its ability to transfer skills to other regions with offshore industries. This session will feature a panel of trade commissioners from four jurisdictions where the expertise learned operating in the North Atlantic may be applicable. During a question and answer session emerging trends and opportunities will be discussed with the trade commissioners of Guyana/Suriname, Norway, Scotland, and Colombia.

Breakout Session 3: Clean Tech Discussion Forum

Summary
Newfoundland and Labrador has begun to position itself as a leader in clean technology, driven by companies and organizations engaged in the offshore sector. This breakout session will discuss the clean tech sector in the province and examine ways to enhance participation both locally and globally. Doing so in the context of achieving net zero by 2050 will be a focus of the session which will include participant working groups and presentations about current clean tech opportunities and solutions to challenges. The discussion topic for this session is: What is net zero and why does the Newfoundland and Labrador offshore oil & gas industry need to pay attention and be proactive? Discussion Questions: a) How can the industry grow and expand while simultaneously achieving net zero? b) What role can the supply chain play in the pursuit of net zero c) What kinds of supports do we need to achieve net zero and make the most of the opportunity?
